TEST NAME RESULT NORMAL RANGE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anti A 60 Mycobacterium LESS THAN 0.8 (NEGATIVE) IgM 0.8 - 1.0 (DUBIOUS) MORE THAN 1.0 (POSITIVE) IMPORTANT NOTES :- 1. Only IgM antibodies to the A - 60 antigen are identified by this test. The A - 60 antigen is genus specific common to all mycobacteris, Viz. M.Tuberculosis (Typical tuberculosis), m/leprae, M. avium (Atypical tuberculosis), M. paratuberculosis, M. bovis and other mycobateria. Interference by non - tuberculosis, pulmonary disease is possible. Immunodepressive conditions presumably alter the response to infection. 2. During infection, IgM antibodies in serum are produced as an initial surge, followed usually by the production of IgA and IgG antibodies, in the order. 3. IgM antibodies are frequently observed after a contact with tuberculous foci. A positive IgM test is most useful to establish the diagnosis of a tuberculous Meningitis infection and for the prognosis of relapses. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
